Red

The wine has stunning depth of colour. Displaying intense garnet centre and a ruby rim. The nose is shy at first then opens up to a melange of red and black fruits with hints of dried herbs, Eucalyptus, cedar wood and graphite. The wine enters the palate with amazing clarity. The flavours are those of dark cherries, raspberries and black currant. There is a hint of herbal spice on the mid-palate which leads to fine, firm tannins on the finish.

Director’s Reserve White 2017

This consistent award winner is a blend of 69% Sauvignon blanc and 31% Sémillon, made from grapes grown on the highest slopes of TOKARA’s Stellenbosch property. The wine displays a pale straw colour with striking brilliance that catches the light. The nose is complex, exhibiting attractive notes of ripe passion fruit and pink grapefruit all intermingled with hints of lemon grass and freshly baked brioche. On the palate the wine enters full and rich reminiscent of the aromas on the nose. Aged nine months on the lees in one-third new French oak, the wine has amazing clarity and depth with a zesty persistence.

Syrah 2017

The wine displays a stunning deep purple colour with a ruby red rim. The nose leads with notes of ripe blueberries and blackberries intermeshed with subtle clove spice. There are aromas of cedar and vanilla giving a beautiful perfume which supports the hint of blue violets emanating from the glass. The palate is classy and refined with rich dark fruit and a silky mid-palate. The wine leaves one with an appealing chalky finish and a hint of pepper spice.

Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

The wine displays a vibrant maroon colour. The nose leads with dark berry fruits, five spice and cedar wood. There is a brightness and vibrancy underlying all these aromas with hints of fresh herbs and red currant notes. The palate is rich and brooding with flavours which mirror the aromas. The mid-palate is weighty yet it leads to a textured finish with lingering grainy tannins. This wine drinks well now but will benefit from ageing until 2026.

Elgin Sauvignon blanc 2020

This 100% Sauvignon Blanc is made from grapes grown on our Highlands farm in Elgin, an area producing some of the best cool climate renditions of this variety, with fresh acidity and purity of fruit in perfect balance. TOKARA Reserve Collection Elgin Sauvignon Blanc entices with inviting aromas of passion fruit and blackcurrant leaf subtly interplayed with lemongrass and elderflower. This vintage has an amazing freshness as the wine enters the palate, with zesty grapefruit flavours leading to a creamy mid-palate and a lingering crisp finish.

Chardonnay 2019

This 100% Chardonnay is made from grapes grown on Tokara’s Stellenbosch farm on the slopes of the Simonsberg.
Aromas of fresh grapefruit, grilled pineapple, star anise and toasted brioche emanate from the glass. The wine enters the palate with fresh citrus flavours leading to a creamy mid-palate with flavours of vanilla, star anise and toasted almond.
